It’s time to start welcoming the holiday spirit! It’s getting chillier in the Northeastern US and the leaves in my neighborhood have changed to beautiful shades of red and gold. I kicked off November with a trip to Barnes & Noble to look for books to review on my blog this month. But I am also excited to read some holiday-themed classics that have been on my To Be Read list for awhile.
Books for Holiday Inspiration
A Christmas Memory by Truman Capote: This is a very slim book that includes three short stories: A Christmas Memory, One Christmas and The Thanksgiving Visitor. I will read this over Thanksgiving weekend while I am recuperating from an exhausting Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday Christmas shopping. Just add chamomile tea.
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott: How can a book lover not have read this book? I am actually not sure if I read it or not. I think I may have read it while I was in grammar school, but maybe I just think I did? I will find out! I bought this lovely version with a pink linen vintage-inspired cover with floral printing on the page edges.
Books to Blog About
Take Me Apart by Sara Sligar: Not very festive sounding! But I took it home and read the first 100 pages, so I am pretty sure I will be able to recommend it. I am really not interested in reading and writing about books that I don’t really care for.
The Dutch House by Ann Patchett: She actually has a more recent book. But this one is so popular, I want to read it before I hear too many spoilers.
A Book for My Commute
The Housemaid by Frieda McFadden: Everyone is raving about it, and I like listening to books and podcasts while I drive to work. I am looking forward to starting this one bright and early tomorrow morning!
